this is an excel template to workout you GP %, You will need to work out the total cost of your dish, how many portions you get from it and how much you want to sell for (you can adjust this price till you get desired GP%) I have left the VAT at 17.5% to future proof this formula but if you want to change this click on H2 square and in formula box where it says "=100-(D2*100*1.175)/F2" change the 1.175 to 1.15
for 15% vat you will also need to change the F2 square to the same (1.15 instead of 1.175).
also i suggest that you open file for the 1st time as click save as and save as master copy to avoid any mishaps.
never delete a box with number in, instead select it and replace number with the number 0 this will stop any formula's being deleted.
I have given you space for 10 dishes to start with, if you require more click on the bottom box and on the right hand side of it there is a little square and if you hover mouse over it you will see a black plus sign, just click this and drag down to desired number you need.
This may all sound complicated but i ensure you if you have a look you will see it is very simple to use and very useful.
There is also a Gross profit box as well as Gross profit % if this information is useful to you.
you only need to fill in the dish name, total cost, number of portions and selling price (including vat).
